Lawmakers react to bombshell James Comey interview

Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle took to Twitter on Sunday night to share reactions to James Comey’s first sit-down interview since President Donald Trump fired him last year.
Interested in James Comey?
Add James Comey as an interest to stay up to date on the latest James Comey news, video, and analysis from ABC News. The former director of the FBI broke his silence in an exclusive interview with ABC News on Sunday night, touching on everything from the Hillary Clinton email saga to the possibility of the president obstructing justice.
The interview became one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter as viewers and politicians alike used the hashtag #ComeyInterview to discuss the ex-FBI director’s comments.
Here’s a look at how some on Twitter reacted to the candid interview:
Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif.
#Comey interview resurrects Jan. 27, 2017 dinner invite @realDonaldTrump extended out of blue to the Director. That same day, @GeorgePapa19 is contacted for first time by FBI. Did George tell someone on Trump team, setting in motion the Trump loyalty ask?

Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn.
Non sequitur. He was also a leaker. That doesn’t change the Libby situation. And I have not been silent on the Esty issue—spoke to Channel 12 next day.

Republican National Convention Chair Ronna McDaniel
“James Comey’s publicity tour reaffirms that his true higher loyalty is to himself," McDaniel said in a statement. "The only thing worse than Comey’s history of misconduct is his willingness to say anything to sell books. He has no credibility and President Trump was right to follow through on the bipartisan calls for him to be fired."
Ex-White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer
As FBI Director, Comey’s opinions have value. But he has not presented any new facts. He hasn’t made any revelations - other than offering negative opinions of Trump. This isn’t a tell-all. It’s an opinion-all.
Comey has the right to his opinions. But that’s all he gave us.

Former U.S. Congressman Joe Walsh, R-Ill.
Look, I'm no huge fan of James Comey, he's much too much of a drama queen who mistakingly inserted himself into the 2016 campaign, but I think he's basically an honest guy who's telling the truth.
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) April 16, 2018
David Axelrod, former chief strategist to President Barack Obama
I very much admire @GStephanopoulos for pressing Comey repeatedly. Comey received a prime time platform but he didn’t get a lay down in return.

Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity
Omg I’m stunned! @ABC @GStephanopoulos that was the worst interview I have ever watched in my life. #JournalismIsDead

Keith Boykin, former White House aide to President Bill Clinton
The #ComeyInterview, like the Stormy Daniels interview, only confirms what we knew all along about Trump. He’s a pathological liar, a shameless womanizer and a crooked businessman and politician. pic.twitter.com/rBa8XARFZc

You may consider attacking a sitting president to be an attack on the rule of law, but it is not. I agree with Comey that Trump is morally unfit to be POTUS and many would also agree.

R. Lee Ermey dies at 74. This media outlet is not allowing discussion.

Ronna McDaniel is an idiot. Everyone who writes a book ends up on a publicity tour! And Joe Walsh? The man is as much of a liar and conman as Trump is.
-
I thought the headline was lawmakers weigh in on the interview... what the heck is Hannity doing there?
-
I listened and found Comey credible and confirmed what trump himself has displayed - trump is morally unfit for office.
-
For anyone in the Republican establishment to call out Comey for being dishonest and a liar, vis-a-vis Don the Con, is a disgrace! We have a sitting so-called president who is a certifiable pathological liar, and an embarrassment for the United States and the world. SAD!!
-
Hannity "OMG"? Who uses his tweeter account, a 14 year old high school girl?
-
I see Hannity doesn’t even watch his own show. Probably for the best.
-
Bombshell? That word is normally used for releasing new revelations that have a serious impact in some area. There was nothing new in this interview that I'[m aware of.
-
Sean Hannity, YOU are one of the people in this country who have harmed the reputation of real journalists.
-
11 days before the election The FBI found Hillary's emails on Anthony Weiner's laptop during the child porn case. They were also on his wife's computer {Huma Abedin who worked for the DNC etc). Weiner cost Hillary the election not Comey.

Funny how Trump is being accused of not respecting the rule of law. So far he has not being indicted or convicted for anything. All he has done is react to allegations and accusations, just a any sane person would. If someone accuses you of murder it is natural for you to defend yourself and try to discredit the accuser. Trump is trying to discredit Comey and Muller - that is not an attack on the FBI or the rule of law. That is just a human being defending himself. Look at them expletives and abuses being used in the nyt article against Trump. It's only natural that he react. You Dems want him to roll over and die ?? And he is a sitting president. You guy are sick in the head to attack him. Sick in the head to pry into his personal life. I consider attacking a sitting president to be an attack on the rule of law. History will judge you.
Bombshell? Sorry but this was all said before.
